Der lebhafte mondäne Urlaubsort Riva liegt umgeben von mächtigen Bergen an der schmalen Nordspitze des Lago di Garda. Mit seinen rund 13.000 Einwohnern ist er nach Desenzano der zweitgrößte Ort am See. Er gehört erst seit 1919 zu Italien und stand davor lange unter österreichischer Herrschaft. Dies ist nach wie vor zu spüren und führt zu einer angenehmen Mischung aus italienischer Leichtigkeit und Tiroler Bodenständigkeit.
